LAST MONTH'S RECAP:
Last month began with a successful White Cane Day which brought in $700.00! Many thanks to the eleven Lions whose dilegence in giving their time and best efforts towards this project made it a great success!
Five members of our Club attended the State Convention in Dublin (Ohio) May 15-17, where they learned that Ohio leads the Nation in membership increases, although the US laags behind other countries overall.
On May 20th President Barb Tolle presented Megan Kuhlwein with the Outstanding Senior Award of $500.00 at the High School Awards Program.
Matt and Rachel Heimerl from the Heimerl Pig Farm near Johnstown were our guest speakers at the May 14th Meeting. They spoke about the Pork Industry and how their farm operates.
PLEASE NOTE: If you still have unsold Partner-In-Sight raffle tickets and cannot sell them, please turn them back in so that someone else may have the opportunity to sell them before the deadline in July. Also, if you have not turned in money for those you have sold, please do so before July 1st so that all tickets, sold or unsold, may be accounted for.
Lion Ron McLeish turned in 74 pairs of glasses last month! Good job Ron!
The Licking County Center for the Visually Impaired presented our Club with a Certificate of Appreciation for supporting their Spaghetti Dinner(s).
The Club approved the purchase of a digital camera and printer for the next year's Kid Care project, since we can no longer use the Polaroid.
A huge THANK YOU to PDG Don DeVault for his efforts in once again obtaining a $1000.00 donation from Wal-Mart for eye care.
SPECIAL ANNOUNCEMENT FOR ALL MEMBERS
At the May 28th meeting, our Club voted to become an Organizational Member of the Licking Valley Heritage Society. This will open a wide range of possibilities for our Club. The LVHS has worked out a contract with the Ohio Historical Society to manage FLINT RIDGE STATE PARK. This will be the main focus of the LVHS in the coming months, and LOTS of volunteer help will be needed for the Museum, Gift Shop, Special Events, and maintenance of the grounds. Several of our members have already volunteered a few hours per month so the Flint Ridge can remain open. If you would like to help please contact Jackie Warner-Deible at 740-621-1997. If you have any questions, you may also contact Lion Dan Fleming or Lion Gloria Kent for answers.(!?!)
